The best 'Call of Duty' game ever is coming to PlayStation 4

Posted June 24, 2017

Activision will release a stand-alone version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered - available both physically and digitally - on June 27.

The exclusive release means PS4 fans will be able to get the game in stores or via download on the PlayStation Network for $40, while other platforms will follow at a later time.

As it stands, the standalone version has been confirmed for Xbox One and PC, but we don't have a launch date for those versions yet. Considering that WWII returns Call of Duty to "boots on the ground" multiplayer, it's perhaps unsurprising that they didn't want anything detracting from hype around the game.

For those of you who never played the game, now is a good chance to play one of the most well renowned shooters in recent history, and get yourself acquainted with one of the most iconic protagonists in "Soap" MacTavish. For another - in case you didn't already guess from the image above - Activision has remastered the game for this new release.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered features fully improved texture resolution and detail, revamped animation, remastered audio, and much more.

This standalone release will arrive on the same week as a Days of Summer event that includes a new map, playlists, and XP bonuses. In 2016 the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare release date delivered a remastered version in an expensive bundle.

However, the "Variety Map Pack" DLC will not be included in the standalone purchase. Here's a comparison of the trailer and of the old game. "With Modern Warfare Remastered, we're able to relive our favorite campaign levels and multiplayer moments in full HD visuals and remastered audio". As for what the game includes, you will find the campaign and a total of 16 player maps.
