Russell Westbrook responded to Kevin Durant's departure from Oklahoma City with a record-setting season.

According to police, a 4-year-old girl and her father were hit by a boat while they were in the water at Temple Lake Park. Patrick Oliver, 37, remains in serious condition at a local hospital. The same witness also said she attempted to help the man and child during the incident. Justice of the Peace David Barfield ordered an autopsy.

Jason Bernal, 43, from Killeen, was arrested and charged with criminal negligent homicide after he allegedly struck a 4-year-old girl with a houseboat on June 23.

Court papers say she drowned after the propeller struck her. Bernal told authorities that he could not see behind him due to his boat being three stories tall.

Temple police said in court papers that Bernal told an officer that he put the boat in reverse and was backing up when someone told him to stop.

Another witness said she was shouting at the driver that there were people behind the boat when it began to back up.

Organizations that assisted at the scene of the boating accident in Belton, Texas, were Texas Parks and Wildlife, crews from Morgan's Point Resort Dive Team and Police Department, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Temple Fire Department.

Officers continue to investigate, and other chargers are possible, Neely said.

A funeral home in Belton said it will be covering the expenses of Katlyn's funeral.

Bernal was arrested Friday night and charged Sunday with criminally negligent homicide, a state jail felony. "Kaitlyn was deeply loved by her parents, Patrick and Mary Ann, as well as her grandparents", the page says.
