In a "Gandhigiri" style of protest against Friday's attack on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat, Youth Congress workers in the city on Saturday showered flowers on the BJP office at suburban Ghatkopar in Mumbai.

While reacting on attack on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's convoy in Gujarat, Chidambaram tweeted, "Abuse, false charges, suppression of protests and now violence: nevertheless, BJP will not succeed in making Congress-mukt Bharat". "This is their, and PM Modi's way of politics", Gandhi said.

Police today arrested one Jayesh Darji, a BJP youth wing member, in this connection. The Congress workers in Guwahati held massive protest raising slogans against Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Congress claimed it has identified four people who are believed to have carried out the attack on Gandhi whose vehicle was badly damaged by a stone-pelting mob on Friday.

"The attack on Rahul Gandhi is very controversial. Rahul Gandhi was under SPG protectee when he was attacked by a boulder".

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh strongly condmned the attack on Rahul, saying "political violence has no place in a functioning democracy".

Another senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said the "intent, ideology and character" of the BJP-RSS has been exposed by such incident.

"In yesterday's incident, BJP workers threw such a huge stone that my personal security officer was injured. When Assam was reeling under floods, 25,42,000 people were affected and 4,084 villages in 29 districts of Assam were also hit", said Congress MP from Assam Bhubaneswar Kalita. "What else can we say", Gandhi said outside Parliament.

Another senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad called the attack a "pre-planned conspiracy".

They condemned the culture of violence being encouraged against opponents which is risky for democracy and the Congress workers would fight against such policies and philosophy with backing of BJP in the country. "We will put in all our might into the service of people". Govt has appointed Add DG rank officer to investigate in detail and will take strict action against those found responsible.
