Former WR Anquan Boldin signs with Bills

It will be interesting to see how the Bills wide receiver depth chart shakes out as Andre Holmes, Philly Brown, Rod Streater and Brandon Tate are all battling with Boldin, Watkins and Jones for the remaining spots on the final 53-man roster.

Veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin is signing with the Buffalo Bills for the 2017 season.

Coming from the Detroit Lions, Boldin scored eight touchdowns and had 67 receptions last season.

Boldin has experience with Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, with both playing for the Baltimore Ravens in 2011 and 2012 when Taylor was a backup.

Beane said the addition of Boldin is not a knock against any depth players at the position on the team now.

The addition of Boldin provides a proven scoring weapon in Buffalo's passing offense.

Throughout his career, Boldin has caught 1,076 passes for 13,779 yards and 82 touchdowns.

One of the reasons it took two weeks to get Boldin signed is that he was weighing heavily the decision on moving his family up from Florida. It came in mop-up duty during a late-season loss to the Chargers and Taylor, then a rookie, hit Boldin for an 18-yard completion. The 36-year-old also won a Super Bowl title with the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII against the 49ers. Seven of his touchdowns came when he was lined up in the slot, the second-most from that position in the National Football League last season behind only Sterling Shepard of the Giants. "In my opinion, he's a Hall of Famer and he'll teach guys how to be a pro".
