Video Shows Car Plunge 7 Stories Off Parking Garage, Narrowly Miss SUV

A driver is expected to be okay after plunging from a 7 floor parking garage in Austin, Texas.

The Austin Code Department said the owner of Littlefield Garage has been in touch with engineering firms to make upgrades and repairs.

The dramatic scene was captured on video released Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, by Austin police.

The woman driving the BMW was seriously injured. Out of nowhere, a BMW falls into frame, hitting the ground and bouncing against the Tahoe. The crash, which happened because the driver apparently pressed her accelerator rather than her brake, occurred on July 13.

"I was talking to my mom on speaker on my phone, and I heard all these loud noises and bangs", he said.

"I can just imagine what she was thinking when I said, 'A vehicle just landed on me, I gotta go, '" Burch said.

Bizarrely, this is the second time in less than a year that a auto has fallen off the edge of the same parking garage.

A similar accident occurred at the same garage September 9, 2016 when a 24-year-old man crashed through the barriers on the top level. Amazingly, both drivers in the BMW and SUV were OK. Waco's KXXV-TV reported that the garage was cited by officials that same month for unsafe barrier cable systems.
