Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin final press conference

Posted September 14, 2017

Reasons for the delay ranged from Alvarez not wanting the fight, to Oscar De La Hoya not wanting to risk his golden goose losing, to De La Hoya wanting his star client having enough time in building his body up for the grind of the 160-pound division. Like it or not, both fighters and judges are affected by the hostility or encouragement of the crowd.

"And with a couple more days to go towards the fight, we are very excited to bring this fight to the public for them to enjoy".

"Triple G" is unbeaten, "Canelo" has only lost to Floyd Mayweather and whoever emerges victorious will be the 160lbs supremo. The fighter many people in boxing believed would become the future of the sport was about to take on perhaps the greatest fighter of his generation.

Britain's Amir Khan was knocked senseless when he recklessly stepped up to middleweight and Liam Smith had his light-middleweight belt ripped off him in nine rounds. But the bigger thing is the fight is finally here. Canelo vs. Golovkin happens Saturday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET on HBO. He also has become a more complete boxer in his last four fights.

I was never with Golovkin.

Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-2, 25 KOs) is fully backing Canelo Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) to shock IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

My next fight in November will be for the IBF European middleweight title so winning that would put me amongst the top 15 in the world rankings. In fact, this will be Golovkin's first fight in Las Vegas. I've worked hard for all the opportunities I've been given so I've got a real chance of getting myself into that position. Abel Sanchez, GGG's trainer, makes no secret that his front footed fight blueprint will not change for the superfight.
