Jackie Hoffman Riffs on Emmys Loss to Laura Dern: 'Damn It!'

Posted September 20, 2017

For celebs at awards shows, the pressure is on to remain cool in the face of defeat (and in front of millions of audience members), which is why Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series nominee Jackie Hoffman has people taking notice after her loss to Laura Dern at the 2017 Emmys.

Hoffman continued her faux rant, quipping, "I hear that Laura Dern looted art from Nazi victims".

"Not done yet, she tweeted, 'I hear that Laura Dern runs a child porn ring #soreloser Emmys2017".

Best of luck next year, Jackie!

The series featuring nearly entirely female stars, with Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz starring alongside Reese and Nicole, won a whopping five awards during the evening, taking home the Emmys for Best Limited Series, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor. She then went on to thank Nicole and Reese's mothers, praising them 'for not only giving us extraordinary women but really well-read women because that's how I'm getting my parts. Emphasis on the "stand-up comedian" part of her bio here, because it's important to know that Hoffman was undoubtedly 100 percent joking when she put on her sore loser act on Sunday night. Dern is, of course, the daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern. Dern had always been the favorite in that category, especially after a big night of wins for Big Little Lies already, so it's likely Hoffman had expected to lose going in.

Hoffman, who plays Mamacita - Joan Crawford's maid and confidant - on Ryan Murphy's FX series, recently told the Hollywood Reporter that she was "humbled and amazed" to be nominated for the first time.
