This new update brings two new features to the app - the ability to watch YouTube videos within the chat window and the option to record voice messages without holding down the microphone button. It lacks the feature where a user can double tap towards the right to fast forward and double tap towards the left to rewind, like in the original app. YouTube Go also lacks the subscription tab where users could view all the videos from the channels they have subscribed to.
The YouTube feature lets users watch videos in the Picture-in-Picture mode so that users can watch the videos even when they open another chat.
According to Twitter account @WABetaInfo, the new feature will be ready tonight on iOS. He is also fanatical about football which makes it all the more unusual that he should support Stockport County. And the second one is locked recordings.
When users tap on a YouTube link in a conversation they no longer have to leave the app in order to watch it. "When recording a Voice Message, just swipe up to lock recording so you can continue to record without keeping your finger down". Until now, whenever you had to record a voice message, you had to hold on to the mic button until you were done recording the voice message. "With picture-in-picture, you can also keep watching the video while you navigate to another chat", the new update read on AppStore.
The iOS app update v2.17.81 has made it easier for users to record and send voice messages. According to WABetaInfo, the in-app YouTube video feature on WhatsApp is now disabled, and might be activated by later from the servers.
Facebook-owned messaging application WhatsApp has been updating its features to facilitate the users and enhance their experience.
"WhatsApp is also testing a feature that will allow to directly mute a video", the report added.
Moreover, WhatsApp is reportedly planning to introduce a new button which will allow users to change a voice call into a video call without ending the ongoing voice call.
