John Mayer underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday morning, forcing the rocker to postpone a New Orleans Dead & Company show.

While the group doesn't now have anything scheduled after its Friday concert until next February, Mayer has a few solo shows lined up for this month. Dead and Company is next set to play Thursday in Orlando, Florida.

John's fellow bandmates have all taken to social media to wish the 40-year-old a speedy recovery.

Dead and Company - featuring Mayer along with Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann - postponed a concert scheduled for Tuesday in New Orleans, saying it would be rescheduled.

John was hospitalized early Tuesday morning according to a rep for the singer.

He was previously scheduled to perform a show in New Orleans with the Dead & Company, but that date has now been postponed.

Loynes said all tickets for Tuesday's show would be honored and later rescheduled as soon as possible.
