Quentin Tarantino Defends Roman Polanski's Rape of 13-Year-Old

A 2003 radio interview with Quentin Tarantino has resurfaced this week in which the filmmaker says that the 13-year-old girl Roman Polanski was convicted of raping in 1977 "wanted to have it". "Throwing the word "rape" around is like throwing the word "racist" around", he continued. It just doesn't apply to everything people use it for.

The recorded conversation Tarantino had with Howard Stern came to light in the wake of allegations that he forced Uma Thurman into a risky stunt on the set of Kill Bill. "I thought, if I get this footage to her and she puts it out there in the world, that a crash expert can look at it and determine exactly what happened on that road". In the middle of this response from the director, Quivers reminds him in shock that, "She was 13!" "He likes girls", Tarantino said.

Earlier, he apologised for the crash Uma Thurman suffered while on set of the 2003 film Kill Bill.

Last year, the woman who was assaulted by Polanski asked an LA court to end the case against him, saying she had forgiven the Oscar-winning director.

Tarantino supported the Academy's decision, which Stern question him about, considering Polanski's checkered past with sexual misconduct. "We did our two times, and then like Uma with the spitting thing, Diane said, OK, if you need to do it once more, you can".

Harvey Weinstein denies the allegations of sexual misconduct.

"Tarantino replied", Look, she was down with this".

On Saturday, Uma Thurman's New York Times story alleging that she had been assaulted and harassed by Harvey Weinstein and almost killed due to Quentin Tarantino's negligence on the set of Kill Bill unsurprisingly sparked outrage. I didn't know any of that was necessarily going on. "The steering wheel was at my belly and my legs were jammed under me", she says.

Addressing his refusal to comment in the initial story, Tarantino told Deadline in a new interview that he and journalist Maureen Dowd "never hooked up" but he upon reading the article he realized that "basically it seemed like all the other guys lawyered up, so they weren't even allowed to be named".

"I'm sure when it was brought up to me, that I rolled my eyes and was irritated", Tarantino told Deadline.

"First, we find something I had already seen, which was the edited footage, so you don't actually see the crash".

In Thurman's interview, the actress claimed that Tarantino put her in jeopardy during the production when he insisted that she drive a vehicle for a scene, despite the actress' multiple requests for a stunt driver to shoot the scene in her place because she felt unsafe. "I've got to kind of commit to doing this to you".
