The popular ReShade mod is now officially banned in PUBG

The developer behind PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has confirmed it's had to postpone the planned anti-cheat update for the battle royale behemoth. According to PUBG Corp.'s Head of Service Management & Anti-Cheat Dohyung Lee, a new patch featuring additional anti-cheat software (built specifically for Battlegrounds) would arrive by the end of the week.

ReShade gained popularity past year as a program that used advanced post-processing to change the look of PUBG, making colors stand out more and adding more depth to things like foliage and long-distance views. Players are encouraged to report via this form if "a harmless program is blocked".

'We will be dealing with these cases as soon as possible. In order to get playable access back to PUBG, all they have to do is uninstall ReShade software along with other prohibited software. So if you used to play your character from different "family-sharing" Steam accounts, you can thank the cheaters for ruining that for you. The cheating rapidly became so bad that PUBG players demanded that China be split off from the main PUBG servers, which Bluehole did.

Now, PUGB Corp has emphasised that players who use ReShade won't be banned, and that they just won't be able to play the game until they remove the program. This follows last November's banning of nearly 100,000 players over a single weekend, then again, another 100,000 in January.

A much needed anti-cheat update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, but the developers have banned a popular mod for the game.

In a new post on the PUBG forums, community coordinator FWG announced the delay of the update.
