Patriots TE Gronkowski's home burglarized during Super Bowl

The home of New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski was reportedly burglarized during Super Bowl Sunday.

Boston's FOX25 reported that Gronkowski was seen at the Foxborough residence and police were at the residence for more than four hours.

In audio recordings of police scanner tape, however, a responding officer is heard saying "Multiple safes, possible guns taken".

"For him it's a double whammy coming off the loss", Foxborough Police Chief William D. Baker said, Yahoo reported.

Gronkowski didn't figure out about the burglary happened until he arrived home on Monday evening, before calling the police to report it at 6:18 p.m. ET, Yahoo News reported. "I think it's kind of a tough combination to have suffered this unfortunate (Super Bowl) loss and then to get home and be a victim of this kind of crime which is, as I say, really has a profound affect on everybody who's a victim of this crime when your personal space is breached like that".

Baker said property was stolen, but declined to say what specific items.

"Doesn't matter whether you're Rob Gronkowski or anybody else, it's unpleasant to be a victim of this kind of crime", Baker said. "We're not going to release the nature of the items stolen".

Rob Gronkowski probably had a to-do list for when he returned home from Minnesota and the Super Bowl. "His gate is never open", said Tom Savino. "So, as a joke, my son and I said, 'Gee, maybe we should just call the police or something.' Now I'm sort of sorry I didn't".

He also said that police will not disclose when the break-in took place, whether Gronkowski has surveillance cameras or a security system because the investigation is far from over.
