'Venom' Teaser Trailer Has Lots of Tom Hardy, No Venom

Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a reporter for the Daily Planet, who is infected by an alien symbiote that brings out his dark side. Yet if there is one character you'd expect to be in a Venom movie, it's Venom - but apparently someone forgot that when they were putting together this teaser trailer.

After news about Peter Parker appearing the movie came out, rumors about Venom also appearing in the movie spread like wildfire online, with many claiming that Hardy would be back to voice the character.

Of course, those with long enough memories will get flashbacks to the character's early solo comic book. Maybe it's a breakup.

Showcasing an American accent the 40-year-old actor opens the voiceover with: "You used to be one thing, now you're something else". The best we get is Brock freaking out as the first transformation begins. Unfortunately we only see that creature in a holding tank, as the full Venom suit is nowhere to be found in the teaser.

"We all have our own problems, our own issues, our own demons", he continues before he loses control and starts screaming. In addition to Hardy, Venom stars Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze and Reid Scott. The Venom version that showed up in Venom: Truth in Journalism short film was interesting, especially Eddie Brock talking to the symbiote, but Venom in costume was never on-screen. The film hits theaters October 5th. But with a great cast list, including Tom Hardy, and an interesting trailer debut, those nerves can be relaxed a bit.
