Apple's iOS 12 strategy could see the end of buggy features

That routine, combined with the fact that Apple opted long ago to make those major updates free to install for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners, has helped maintain excitement around iOS in general. Let us know in our comments section below.

Going forward, Apple will work on the next two years of updates for iPhone and iPad, with engineers having the final say on whether new features are ready to be launched or should be postponed to next year. "Apple has shaken up its iOS software plans for 2018, delaying some features to next year in an effort to put more focus on addressing performance and quality issues", says the Axios report quoting sources. Apple then has a smaller update roughly six months later, giving it the opportunity to tweak and improve features and perhaps thrown in a few new additions. To be clear, there will still be updates every year, but engineers will simply have more control over which ones they elect to get released or hold back if need be. Codenamed "Peace", the software upgrade for iPhone and iPad will be called iOS 12, keeping up with the annual running cycle.

The source code for iBoot, the secure boot portion of Apple's iOS operating system, was leaked by a low-level intern at the company as a favour to his security researcher friends, according to anonymous sources speaking to Motherboard.

That means a new model of the tablet should come with the Face ID camera, which is what enables Apple's Animoji feature.

IOS 12 also is expected to get a redesigned version of Apple's stock-tracking app, an updated version of the "Do Not Disturb" feature and deeper integration of Siri. Engineers would now be given an upper hand in deciding the features that are not flawless enough to be added in the update, notes Bloomberg.

Reports of the stolen data first surfaced earlier this week after the exclusive computing language was found online on GitHub, a web-based hosting service where anyone can post computer code for communal use. This release will also feature universal apps that work across iOS devices and Mac computers. It is, to be sure, much more hard to develop solutions that balance all three of these requirements than to focus unilaterally on just one of them.

What are your thoughts on the new strategy that Apple has devised taking into account its operating system? In its request, Apple wrote that, based on the forks it reviewed, "we believe that all or most of the forks in these networks are infringing to the same extent as the parent repositories".
