Storm Emma puts paid to holidaymakers' plans at Bristol Airport

Dublin airport will remain closed until at least Saturday morning, as a result of the continuing adverse weather conditions across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

"We strongly advise passengers intending to fly from, or travel to, Shannon Airport on Saturday to contact their relevant airline or check their website before travelling".

ScotRail was forced to axe all but four services while Glasgow and Edinburgh airports will close this evening.

Glasgow Airport advised passengers over Twitter: "Our teams have worked tirelessly to overcome what has been the worst snowfall in our history".

British Airways have released a statement and said: "We are sorry that the weather is likely to lead to some delays and disruption to our schedules".

"We're now operational, however, there are a large number of delays and cancellations".

In Ireland, Ryanair has cancelled all its flights to and from Cork and Kerry, as well as a number of flights serving its home airport, Dublin.

Flight operations will NOT resume until Saturday morning, meaning there will be no flights to or from Dublin Airport tomorrow.

"We are only half way through our £2.7bn investment program, our long haul network now reaches over 60 destinations, and we have some exciting tech and service innovations coming soon so we continue to deliver the very best airport experience for our passengers".

The flights that were cancelled today were on top of the over 400 which were cancelled yesterday, in and out of the airport.

All trains and buses have finished for the day and remaining flight services at Shannon Airport will finish at 6pm.

But the airport warns that the situation "is likely to remain challenging and there will be disruption".

"De-icing of aircraft and snow clearing is now taking place".
