The All Blacks Sevens had earlier beaten Scotland and Russian Federation in contrasting matches, battling to defeat the Scots 31-26 before dissecting Russian Federation 31-5 and going on to account for South Africa 33-14.

It was the Fijians this time around to slay the Kenyans whom they had earlier beaten 24-21 in the pool stage at Canada Sevens. Fiji beat Argentina 43-7 and South Africa beat Australia 24-19.

That results saw Kenya stay in eighth place in the series but with an improved tally of 64 points, which saw them pile pressure on seventh-placed England with 70 points.
