Gabrielle Union on Cosby Verdict: "Just the First Domino to Go"

Gabrielle Union on Cosby Verdict:

A judge says Cosby will be confined to the same suburban Philadelphia mansion where jurors concluded he drugged and molested a Temple University women's basketball administrator, ordering him to be outfitted with a Global Positioning System ankle bracelet to monitor compliance.

Cosby can't leave his Pennsylvania home and will be fitted with a Global Positioning System monitor, according to a bail order released Friday. He will only be allowed to leave the house to meet with his lawyers or go to the doctor, and must get permission before doing so.

Cosby, 80, could end up spending his final years in prison after a jury concluded he sexually violated Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

It was the second time the actor had stood trial for the allegations, after an earlier jury failed to reach a verdict in June 2017.

The judge has not spelled out why the names have not yet been released.

She told the court she had gone to the home of her then friend Cosby, to discuss her resignation. His attorney plans to appeal. No sentencing date was set.

Even before the verdict, more than 20 colleges and universities across the USA had revoked honorary degrees from Cosby in light of allegations against him. The school was one of the few that waited for a verdict before pulling its honors from the former TV star.

In 2014, comedian Hannibal Buress performed a routine contrasting Cosby's moral stances with the allegations against him.

Board of Trustees Chairman Patrick O'Connor previously said he would recuse himself from discussions on the honorary degree.

Sopori says the situation could make those accused of sexual assault less likely to settle or give any testimony in civil litigation.

The defense is also expected to raise on appeal O'Neill's ruling that allowed jurors to hear portions of a deposition Cosby gave over a decade ago as part of Constand's lawsuit against him.

However, Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt said: 'He maintains his innocence, and he is going to walk around as a man who's innocent because he didn't do anything wrong. During the retrial, Judge O'Neill allowed the prosecution to present testimony from five other women who say Cosby assaulted them too. We do know he'll be sentenced within 75 days.

When she met Cosby at the Las Vegas Hilton, Cosby offered her some alcohol, she said, to help her relax.

Bill Cosby's chief accuser says in a Twitter post that "truth prevails". She followed up that tweet with examples of consent.

Only one other accuser was permitted to testify at Cosby's first trial, which ended in a hung jury past year.

The guilty verdict came less than a year after another jury deadlocked on the charges.

Cosby stared straight ahead as the verdict was read, but moments later lashed out loudly at District Attorney Kevin Steele and called him an "a-hole" after the prosecutor asked that Cosby be immediately jailed because he might flee.

According to court documents, Judge Steven O'Neill also ordered that the 80-year-old wear a Global Positioning System monitor.

A jury in Norristown, Pennsylvania found the entertainer guilty of aggravated indecent assault on Thursday.

One of those women called Cosby a 'serial rapist.' Another choked back tears as she asked, 'You remember, don't you, Mr. Cosby?' A third declared: 'I was raped'.

Gabrielle Union who has been vocal about her experience with sex assault shared her opinion on Bill Cosby's guilty verdict.

And as our ideas about victims and sexual assault changed radically and with a speed that not even Chuck Yeager, the man who broke the sound barrier, could have anticipated, so did our requirements for due process. Constand has done so.
