Facebook adding new features for dating, Mark Zuckerberg says

Facebook wants to help people find love on its platform.

Potential romantic matches will also be suggested based on your shared interests, things in common and mutual friends, Facebook says.

Facebook's Clear History feature will be discussed in further detail at the F8 developer expo, which takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.

Facebook now collects users' web browsing histories - even when they're not on Facebook - to use for targeted ads, and stores it for between 90 days and two years, according to Recode.

Clearly, Facebook can't stop investing in new tools to attract more users and keep them glued to its service. "I took Wyclef Jean to Jupiter and went home with Hodor".

The argument can be made that your event information isn't technically private - someone could get a complete list of RSVPs by combing through a public event page if they really wanted to - but the ease of such a feature in a dating context is undeniably odd.

On the virtual reality front, Zuckerberg announced that the Oculus Go, a standalone VR headset, starts shipping Tuesday. The issue was resolved but it was unclear exactly which Facebook updates caused the issues for Tinder. "We're surprised at the timing given the amount of personal and sensitive data that comes with this territory". Instead, they can input a phone number to register and login.

Questions ranged from those on dark ads and Facebook's financial gain from them to third-party app developers, foreign interference and advertising spend in elections, GDPR and the storage and privacy of user data and much more. Facebook had already been changing what information it makes available to other companies like Match as part of its efforts to improve its privacy reputation.

Match Group and Hinge did not immediately return requests for comment on the news.

Amusing how browsers have offered clear history options from the jump.

It's created Marketplace, where people can browse items for sale nearby, in a bid to compete with Craigslist and eBay. It also has 20,000 people responsible for monitoring content on the platform. Those include how much of the company's revenue comes from Myanmar and if there was any link between the US elections and the 2017 purge of fake accounts.
