Mark Ingram's suspension means Browns will miss facing Saints RB

However, it looks like the Saints will be without one half of that offensive charge for the first month of the season as Ingram has been suspended for the first four games of the 2018 campaign due to violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

It is not yet known which PED substance triggered the positive test from Ingram. That said, NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reports that Ingram has not been around the facility during conditioning and he won't be around for OTAs. The veteran running back has been absent from Saints voluntary team workouts so far this spring.

Ingram will be eligible to return to the active roster October 1 and can play October 8 vs. Washington. As Fantasy Guru's Graham Barfield points out, Kamara out-snapped Ingram over the Saints' final eight games last season.

Last season, his seventh in the NFL, Ingram rushed for a career-high 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Ingram formed one half of the New Orleans backfield last season with rookie Alvin Kamara, combining to produce some of the best numbers in the NFL.

The suspension comes just four months after Ingram completed the most successful year of his career. The 2017 NFL Rookie of the Year, he carried the ball 120 times for 728 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The New Orleans Saints' loss has become the Atlanta Falcons' gain.

Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy victor from Alabama, has been terrific in the pros, averaging 1,359 total yards and nine touchdowns over the last four seasons (2014-17).
