Will Meet North Korea's Kim on June 12 in Singapore, Says Trump

America will help rebuild North Korea's economy if it agrees to give up its nuclear weapons, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said.

This week, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed home the three Americans released by their North Korean captors after talks between the two countries.

"In order to reinforce reconciliation between South Korea and North Korea and to spread peace on the Korean peninsula, we wish for a swift repatriation of South Korean detainees", Mr Yoon said.

How should the United States respond to North Korea's rapidly advancing nuclear capabilities?

Kim declared his nuclear forced as complete in December, following the country's most powerful nuclear test to date in September and also three flight tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles created to reach the US mainland.

The United States and North Korea are technically still at war-a stop-gap armistice ended the brutal three-year Korean war in 1953 and around 30,000 American troops remain in neighboring South Korea, which the U.S. supported in the conflict.

That means Trump's stewardship of the nuclear crisis is now far more popular than the President himself, the network said. He said being back in the US felt "like a dream".

"I want to thank Kim Jong Un", Trump said on the tarmac.

Sanders said Trump is going into the meeting with Kim with "eyes wide open", meaning that he has not made any predictions about what course the talks might take.

It has been reported that an announcement and the timing of the summit have been delayed upon North Korea's request for security reasons. "And I think it'll be very successful".

The White House cautioned that any provocation from North Korea before the meeting could jeopardize the summit.

Abe congratulated their release as Pyongyang's forward-looking step ahead of its summit with the USA, but stressed that many Japanese are still stuck in North Korea.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo traveled to Pyongyang twice to meet with Kim in recent months, in a precursor to the Trump-Kim meeting.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has pushed for Panmunjom, one reason Trump considered it.

It is imperative to draw up a road map for denuclearization and continue applying pressure on North Korea until the country actually implements it. Trump must not rush simply in pursuit of success.

After the end of the Korean war in 1953 the South, an ally of the United States, embraced a capitalist philosophy. A North Korean official informed Pompeo that Kim had granted the three "amnesty", according to a senior USA official present for the exchange.

North Korea's state-run media have accused the Japanese government of attempting to hinder the peace process by bringing up the abduction issue that has already been settled.

She said the USA troop presence in the South for the past 65 years has played a "crucial role for deterrence", peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.

"We had good conversations about the histories of our two nations, the challenges that we have had between us", Pompeo told reporters at a news conference with South Korea's visiting foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha.

Since the foundation of North Korea in 1948, the country has endured war and struggled to balance rival Soviet and Chinese spheres of influence.
