The toy store chain announced in March they would be closing down and the few remaining stores are closing for good this week.

Another poster has a letter from Geoffrey that reads: 'One day, all of us will get separated from each other.

Many people have reacted to the images on Twitter, sharing their sadness that a piece of their childhood has been shuttered.

But numerous children who happily sang the "I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R Us kid" jingle grew into busy parents who found shopping online more convenient.

"It's sad. A lot of kids are really probably shopping online Amazon a place like that, but there's something special about going to a store like Toys "R" Us", said Dale Shough, a customer.

The toy retailer is set to close its remaining 200.

Another user, @carloslinera22, wrote: 'There are sad moments in life. but this, this broke me completely.

Geoffrey has acted as the chain's logo and "spokesanimal" for the past 70 years.

Madelyn Garcia, who has worked at Toys R Us for 30 years and became a manager at the Boynton Beach store in September, told The Palm Beach Post that the Toys R Us team is a "family" and therefore should be compensated properly.

Many kids grew up watching Geoffrey the Giraffe in TV commercials.

This seems to be linked to recent rumors of a Toys "R" Us reboot in the works, which surfaced from a Bloomberg report.
