LeBron won’t meet with Cavaliers in person when free agency opens

After opting out of his current contract with the Cavaliers, there are at least four teams strong in the running including the Cavs, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Lakers. Sources say James is strongly considering joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer, USA Today, ESPN and several Cleveland television stations reported James will test free agency, making the move hours before Friday's just-before-midnight deadline. ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported this week that James would not be seeking out elaborate pitch meetings during the free-agency process. The team is also interested in Jeff Green coming back. He finished second to Houston Rockets guard James Harden in the MVP voting. That's due in part to the simple fact that Paul also has other clients that will be in the free agent market. James, who is from Akron, Ohio, can get the most lucrative package by staying in Cleveland: a five-year, $209 million contract.

Citing sources close to LeBron James, cleveland.com National Basketball Association reporter Joe Vardon has thrown cold water on Thursday's hot take floated by ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.

Per McMenamin, the Cavs have "been in regular dialogue" with James' camp since the season ended earlier this month.

The belief is that no meetings are scheduled with any teams at this time, with James' agent Rich Paul preferring to conduct all business over the phone.

But in his report, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski added that the Lakers "did not have a good initial conversation" with the Spurs about a potential deal.

Taylor, signed to a two-year contract last October, started nine of his 67 games last season.

-Center Enes Kanter will return to the New York Knicks next season after exercising his $18.6 million player option ahead of Friday's deadline to do so.

In a testament to the closeness of James' inner circle, it is unclear what he'll do in free agency.

That gives LeBron a few more days to make his decision, and he's reportedly mulling things over in the British West Indies at a stunning luxury beach house, aka "The Decision Cave".

The 33-year-old averaged 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 9.1 assists and 1.4 steals and shot 54.2 percent from the field this past season.
