George Clooney Injured in Italy Car Crash

The daily says the 57-year-old actor had been headed to a film set on Tuesday when his motorbike was hit by a auto.

According to local Italian media reports, the actor, who is in Sardinia to film a miniseries was travelling along a state road in Costa Corallina when the accident occurred. A photo from the scene shows the car's smashed windshield.

"A auto did not respect the right of way and hit him", the tweet read.

Clooney was taken to a hospital and the injuries are not believed to be serious, according to La Nuova.

Police told NBC News that the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. local time when a vehicle did not obey the right of way and collided with Clooney at an intersection.

Italian media report the accident happened in Sardinia where the U.S. actor is filming his latest TV series, Catch-22.

Clooney, 57, plays US Air Force commander Scheisskopf in the World War Two Channel 4 drama, based on Joseph Heller's classic novel. It's unclear when George will return to filming.

In April, the legendary thespian announced he was cutting down his acting role in the Hulu production so he could focus on directing.

Clooney has a home on Lake Como on the Italian mainland.
