Israel launch fresh AIRSTRIKES against Syria just hours after drone breached airspace

"First, we will not tolerate the establishment of a military presence by Iran and its proxies anywhere in Syria - not close to the border and far away from it". Russia, another key ally of Assad, has said it is unrealistic to expect Iran to fully withdraw from the country.

Separately, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, diplomat and senior foreign affairs advisor to the Iranian parliament's speaker, stressed that Iranian advisers would remain in Syria "notwithstanding aggressive Israeli attacks", Al-Watan reported.

So in addition to discussing the fluid situation in Syria, the two leaders are expected to deal with other issues, and the inter-connectivity between them, such as the significance of the US withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal; how to get Iran to exit Syria; the sanctions on Russian Federation as a result of the Ukrainian issue; and US President Donald Trump's long-awaited ideas for a Mideast peace plan.

Graham seemed to concur with Putin's assessment that the Iranians can't be easily removed at this point, and instead wants to see a strong United States military presence in Syria, too.

"The heart of the matter is retaining our freedom of action against anyone who acts against us, and the removal of the Iranians from Syrian territory", Netanyahu said, a day after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I have set a clear policy that we do not intervene and we have not intervened".

On Wednesday, Israeli forces shot down a drone that violated its airspace.

The military said the drone did not carry weapons and was created to carry out surveillance missions.

Israel coordinates its military activities with Russian Federation in Syria. At least some of the missiles were thwarted by Syrian air defences, they said.

But the Israeli official told Reuters that Russia's plan to distance Iranian forces from Israel falls short of the demand Netanyahu said he conveyed to Putin for a complete withdrawal of Iranian-allied forces. A source in the Syrian military has told media that the attack was perpetrated by Israel, although the IDF has yet to comment on the claims.

In their Moscow meeting Netanyahu and Putin were to discuss Syria.
