Nets reportedly send Lin to Hawks, acquire two from Nuggets

The New York Times, Newsday and ESPN reported the deal was set to be completed Friday with the Hawks sending Brooklyn a 2020 second-round NBA Draft pick and the rights to 21-year-old French guard Isaia Cordinier, who plays for Antibes in his homeland. Additionally, the Nets will send the Hawks a 2025 second-round pick and the right to swap second-round picks in 2023, according to Woj.

Russell could be in line for a rookie-scale extension, but he will have to show more than what he has during his 48 games as a Net to warrant the franchise taking a long-term gamble on his future.

Now, Lin will have to find room in Atlanta, where point guard Dennis Schroder was the Hawks' leading scorer last season. The NBA's first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent has also played for Golden State, Houston, the Lakers and Charlotte. Schroder, a former first-round pick, started 145 games for Atlanta over the past two seasons, but he made public comments encouraging a trade to a contender earlier this offseason and then Travis Schlenk's scouting staff traded back to tab Young with the No. 5 overall selection. Both are entering the final years of their contract.

The Nets had acquired Whitehead in a draft night trade with Utah in 2016.

An eight-year veteran, Lin has career averages of 12.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds.
