PM directs to ensure security of Zaireen visiting Iran, Iraq

"I will lead Pakistani delegation", Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told reporters on Tuesday evening. He issued the directives during chairing Punjab cabinet meeting on Saturday.

Talking to reporters after launching the drive, the prime minister said Pakistan would be the seventh most affected country by global warming so enhancing forest cover was crucial.

He said that Modi's phone call to Khan is being taken as that India is also willing to engage with Pakistan.

Mattis said action against "common foes and terrorists" will remain key issue to discuss during the talks, adding: "It will be made clear to authorities in Pakistan what we have to do for all our nations". "Three months down the road, there will be a marked difference in the way the country is run", he promised.

The Prime Minister said security of the Zaireen visiting holy places overseas and facilitating them is foremost priority of government. Imran said he had only directed the chief secretary to look into the matter and that he was unaware of the details of the incident.

Imran Khan, who has on many occasions in the past criticized America's policy for South Asia, had also opposed the idea of Pakistan sending troops to Yemen to fight Houthi rebels.

Asked on the usage of a helicopter for travel to and from his Bani Gala residence, Khan further said that he did not want the people to be inconvenienced. He said the government wanted indiscriminate accountability, adding that he would not spare anyone within his own party if they were found guilty of corruption.

The first day of the drive was observed as "Plant for Pakistan Day" when around 1.5 million saplings were planned to be planted in a single day across the country. He said he would only make a foreign visit if it benefitted Pakistan.

Commenting on worldwide diplomacy, Khan said the PTI government wanted peaceful ties with India, Afghanistan and Iran but would not compromise the national interest. The meeting was attended by Yaqoob Izahar, Najeeb Haroon, Arshad Dad, Secretary Housing & Works Dr Imran Zeb Khan, Secretary Law M Justice (R) Abdul Shakoor Paracha and other senior officers.

Zarif and Imran Khan said Muslim countries should strengthen close cooperation to solve issues related to the Muslim world and the region.

During the visit, Sidhu sparked controversy after he was photographed hugged Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
