Marvel Planning More Female-Led Superhero Movies

"Captain Marvel" marks the first time a woman will be the headlining superhero of a Marvel movie.

Ever since 2017's Wonder Woman hit theaters and proceeded to break box office records, it has been shown that, when executed properly, woman-led superhero films can be just as good as their male counterparts.

Entertainment Weekly's latest salvo of Captain Marvel information includes a bit more about Law's character, an "enigmatic commander" who, it turns out, is the leader of the Starforce, the elite Kree supergroup Carol joins early in the film. Nonetheless, it can't be denied that it has taken Marvel a long time to get to this point, which is a fact Feige is cognizant of. As per the comics, one of the photos sees Captain Danvers in her plane as part of the US Air Force.

Though most people (us included) thought this meant a trailer, today Entertainment Weekly released a cover story about the movie, complete with our first official look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

"She can't help but be herself", Larson told EW of her character, adding: "She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face". He went on to say that her humanity is "also the thing that makes her great".

For starters, the Fury of "Captain Marvel's" 1990s setting is obviously younger, so Jackson was digitally de-aged for the role, according to EW. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn't always make the ideal decisions for herself. They feature the first look at Brie Larson as the title character and of the shape-shifting aliens called the Skrulls.

It is due for release in March 2019.

Captain Marvel will suit up in her own solo movie next March, and in the sequel to "Avengers: Infinity War" next May. "This is not a superhero who's flawless or otherworldly or has some godlike connection", she told EW; Larson's quotes also emphasize that Captain Marvel "can be a little invasive and in your face".
