Elon Musk accused of stereotyping Thailand with attack on caver Vernon Unsworth

"Musk also expressed a desire to improve production to the point where Tesla can make two cars at once", said the report.

Unsworth's lawyer threatened legal action against Musk in response.

Unsworth told the Guardian he was "astonished and very angry" at Musk's Twitter blast, which the tech billionaire followed up with, "Bet ya a signed dollar it's true".

The shareholder lawsuit is one of at least seven targeting Musk since he stunned investors on Twitter on August 7, saying he might take Tesla private in a $72 billion (55.66 billion pounds) transaction valuing the company at $420 per share, and that "funding" had been "secured".

"Elon Musk's continuing campaign of publishing vile and false accusations against Mr. Unsworth is inexcusable".

'I've been told today to be very careful because this guy may do anything to make my life hard, ' Unsworth told The Times.

"Unsworth also said I was asked to leave by the Thai govt, which is utterly false".

The Tesla CEO has further escalated the situation from when he first labelled the diver, Vernon Unsworth, a "pedo" in a tweet in July of this year. Its $1.8 billion junk bond maturing in August 2025 dropped more than a point in price to a record low 85.75 cents on the dollar.

After the inevitable backlash, Musk apologised, but attempted to save face by claiming he was reacting in anger to Unsworth's "suggestion that [he] engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub", a rather literal interpretation of Unsworth's sarcastic comment that Musk "stick [the mini-sub] where it hurts" at the time it was offered as a solution to the cave rescue efforts.

Tigress Financial Partners analyst Ivan Feinseth commented on Musk's tweeting saying: "He should not tweet about things outside of vehicle production and the auto industry".

However, he has continued the attack in astonishing emails to a BuzzFeed reporter. "I started to doubt whether I was also stuck in the cave", he said.

Some analysts have encouraged Musk to take a break from Twitter and bring in a more disciplined second-in-command to look after day-to-day operations at Tesla. Last week, the British company announced plans to build a test track in southwest England for testing the electric auto it is now developing and planning to launch in 2021.

On Aug. 24 Musk put out a statement saying the go-private deal was off.

Last week, investment firm Cowen & Co. warned that Tesla faces "mounting obstacles", including shareholder lawsuits and scrutiny from regulators.

Tesla has had a number of lofty goals during their course of running their business, some of which were met with skepticism even by those working with the company.

Hedge funds and other institutional investors have recently added to or reduced their stakes in the company. Musk's emotional interview with the New York Times last month suggested his erratic behavior stemmed from a supremely stressful year.

That announcement drove Tesla's share price up more than 13 percent from its close the prior day.

"This past year has been the most hard and painful year of my career", he said during the interview.
