YouTube back up after access problems

Google-owned YouTube says a widespread issue with some of its services has been resolved, nearly two hours after several people took to social media to complain about broadcasting issues.

After resolving the issue, YouTube appreciated viewers' patience and thanked them for the same.

YouTube users are reporting that the worldwide video streaming service is now down.

YouTube acknowledged the outage on Twitter and said it was working to fix the problem.

YouTube has had outages before, like a brief crash during the FIFA World Cup this summer when many customers paid for a live stream of the games. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated", Team Youtube posted on Twitter.

At 11 p.m. ET, the account tweeted, "We're back!" Even though the company didn't detail the scale of the outage, it said that efforts were on to restore services, and it'll intimate once the issue was resolved.

An error page greets users on the Youtube website today. Similar to the website, the YouTube app showed blank areas on the homescreen, while navigating to the "trending", "subscriptions" and "library" tabs returned error messages. What's missing is an explanation for what exactly happened to cause the outage.
